A FOOTBALL-mad youngster has created his own soccer wonderwalls -- and plastered them with team shirts from around the world.

Thomas Brindle inherited his love of the beautiful game from father Derek, 43, who kicked off his son's collection with some of his prized soccer possessions collected over the years.

Among his collection the eight-year-old, from Hodder Street, Accrington, has more than 25 shirts from teams including Marseille, Barcelona, Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Inter Milan and his beloved Burnley.

The Benjamin Hargreaves School pupil also has flags, scarves and three coin collections including a 1970 England World Cup coin.

The vast collection covers all four walls of Thomas's bedroom at his dad's house in Cedar Street, Accrington, and also includes England match tickets from fixtures against Brazil, Holland and an Argentina side that featured a 17-year-old Diego Maradona.

A dedicated Clarets fan, Thomas is a regular visitor to Turf Moor with his dad, and also watched the England under-21 match against Greece at Ewood Park earlier this year.

"I just really got into football and then I started collecting lots of Burnley shirts," said Thomas, whose favourite players are Burnley's Andy Payton and England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen.

"Then me and my dad said we can't just keep putting Burnley shirts up around my wall so we started figuring out all these."

Derek said: "He's very keen on it but I put it into his head. I used to go to England games in my 20s so I have been collecting tickets and shirts over the last five or six years.

"They are all stuck up on his walls, and every time we go out he looks at stuff. He picks things up at car boots and bargain shops."

Derek added: "It keeps him occupied rather than roaming the streets. We have something in common and hopefully he will follow my footsteps and play a bit."
