PARENTS and pupils at a Hyndburn school have proved themselves a mile ahead when it comes to generosity.
Scores of mums and dads turned up to St Oswald's CE Primary School, Mount St James, Stanhill Road, Knuzden, on Saturday to support the launch of a fund-raising event for the school.
The aim is to lay a line of pound coins end to end along a scaled-down model of a mile-long route from St Oswald's to raise funds for a £400,000 extension to the school.
St Oswald's has to contribute £45,000 towards the cost.
The scale model has been installed in the school hall and will include key points along the route so pupils can keep a record of how much has been raised.
