AT first the idea of a regional parliament based here instead of in London seems a good one. But this is part of a plot by Brussels to create a superstate.
The Eurocrats want to build the United States of Europe, against the wishes of most ordinary people. One of the main obstructions to this is people's patriotism and the power of the individual national governments.
As long ago as 1970 a step-by-step strategy was put in place for reducing the power and the influence of the individual nations. We now see how power has been stripped from above, the majority of new legislation is concocted by Brussels and rubberstamped by the European and then the Westminster Parliament.
The idea of the assemblies is now to strip more power and identity from below and hand it to the regions. They will not be making laws but will be looking for funds to carry out projects in their area and we will need to go directly to Brussels to get our grants (ie they might give us our own money back!) thus bypassing Westminster completely.
No doubt funds will be provided to enhance regional identity. This process will continue slice by slice until we will live in Northwest Region Europe. England will have been abolished.
The Roman emperors, Charlemagne, Napoleon and Hitler all failed to enslave the British Isles as part of the European empire. But this government (helped in previous years by Ted Heath and Co), will deliver us to exactly that fate.
