A doorman and his son appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of Gavin Tattersall, 18.

Mr Tattersall, of Cambridge Drive, Padiham, died after an incident in Churchills, Cannon Street, Accrington in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Another doorman, Kenneth Halstead, 41, of South View, Haslingden, is charged with wounding Gavin Tattersall with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

All three were remanded in custody to Preston Crown Court where they will appear for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

The court was told Mr Tattersall had been at Churchills celebrating a friend's 18th birthday.

A neighbour said he had worked with his stepfather as a window cleaner in the streets around Cambridge Drive.
