PAUL Gascoigne's footballing future is on hold until the World Cup has finished.

Gazza, who was 35 on Monday, ended the season with Burnley after they took over his contract from Everton in the middle of March.

His close friend and confidante Jimmy "Five Bellies" Gardner admitted: "Gazza has got a lot of offers on the table and it is a question of looking at what to do next.

"But for the World Cup he has got television commitments with ITV and he will also be writing for a national newspaper.

"Once all of that is over with he will look at his options and make his decision."

Clarets boss Stan Ternent admitted last week that "nothing could be ruled out" in relation to Gascoigne coming back to Burnley, possibly on a week to week contract.

Gardner echoed that sentiment as he said: "I have no idea what he will be doing next season."

It is 12 years ago that the 23-year-old Gascoigne took Italia 90 by storm and he won a place in the hearts of the nation with his tears after the heart-breaking semi-final defeat by West Germany.

As Gascoigne nears the end of his career it is obvious he is in no mood to be rushed into a decision about what to do next but it does look increasingly likely that his future will be away from Turf Moor.
