A WOMAN detained as she stole a 52p drink from Woolworths was found to be wearing a £39 pair of trainers, stolen when an attempt to pay with a stolen cheque went wrong.
Danielle Nicholson, 22, of Devon Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty at Blackburn magistrates to theft from Woolworths and handling the trainers.
She was remanded on bail until June 21 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
Wendy Chappell, prosecuting, said Nicholson had gone into JJB with a male who had tried to buy two pairs of trainers using a stolen cheque and bank card.
When the assistant said she would have to check the card the male ran out with the trainers.
When Nicholson left Woolworths with the drink she was challenged by a member of staff but threw the drink to a male who ran off while she was detained.
