BURY Shopmobility is a victim of its own success and is now desperate to recruit more volunteers.
The organisation provides disabled visitors to the Mill Gate centre with wheelchairs and other motorised transport to allow them to shop.
But because demand for the service is increasing substantially, Shopmobility is anxious to take on more volunteers as soon as possible.
Manager Mr Andy O'Hara said: "Last year, we were involved in catering for 8,000 trips involving all our wheelchairs and electrical scooters and picking up people from the bus station and car parks.
"This year so far has been just as busy and we have a massive problem because we're short of volunteers, particularly people who can help push manual wheelchairs and get involved in our social side."
Bury Shopmobility is open six days a week and has around 10 helpers. But Mr O'Hara is anxious to recruit at least another half dozen volunteers.
Anyone who can assist should ring Bury Shopmobility on 763 9667.
