HOSPITAL bosses have yet to reveal their plans for new security measures.
The Calderstones NHS Trust Board met yesterday behind closed doors to discuss a security review report. It was held in secret due to security implications.
As yet no details have been announced although chief executive Russ Pearce said a statement was likely to be issued today.
The meeting came in the same week a patient sparked a major armed police response when he absconded from the Whalley mental health unit brandishing what police believed to be a knife.
The man, who was admitted to the hospital via the courts in 1995, was later apprehended in Clitheroe after police chased him across fields.
The knife turned out to be a stick.
And earlier this month a member of the hospital staff was almost strangled when a patient attacked him.
Witnesses said that the victim's lips turned blue in the attack.
The past year has also been littered with incidents at the hospital leading to calls for better security by Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans and the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
