A 15-YEAR-OLD girl was indecently assaulted after being attacked with a stun gun.

Police said the teenager was sitting at a bus stop near to the Kwik Save superstore, in Bolton Road, Blackburn.

After sitting next to her the man put his arm on her shoulder and made an indecent suggestion to her.

As she pushed the man off to get away she was attacked with the gun and said she felt two sharp pains in her side.

The girl was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary although she was not detained.

After taking medical advice on the teenager's wounds police said the injuries had come from a stun gun weapon.

Detective Sergeant Sally Riley said: "We believe it could have been caused by a stun-gun or taser weapon.

"The girl was traumatised by this attack and if this man is not caught he could commit a more serious attack in the future.

"The fact that a weapon was used to try and detain her where a sexual offence could have occurred is very worrying. However we would urge the public not to panic, as these types of incidents are very rare."

The victim described the offender as of Kosovar or similar appearance, 5ft 9ins tall and in his 30s. He had short, spiky black hair and was wearing a black waist-length leather jacket with a cream shirt and dark trousers. He spoke with a Kosovar, or similar, accent.

Stun guns, which are illegal, disrupt the nervous system by generating high-voltage but low-amperage electrical charges.

The charge is not intense enough to damage the body unless it is applied for extended periods of time. In short bursts it can disable the victim by attacking their nerves and muscles.

Anybody with information on the attack, which happened at 10pm on Monday should contact DS Riley at Blackburn CID on 01254 353569 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
