A BAGPIPE playing soldier who stood out as the famous lone piper at the annual Edinburgh Tattoo is to entertain the crowds at Preston's Jubilee Pageant.
Sergeant Jason Sumner, from Fulwood, Preston, is part of the world-renowned Scots Guards -- the regiment responsible for the changing of the guards and trooping the colour at Buckingham Palace.
And the musical trooper was even a piper in the ceremony held to mark the Queen Mother's death, in March this year, in a procession from the House of Commons to Westminster Hall in London.
But his next role is closer to home, when he will play the part of the lone piper -- a traditional tune used to close events -- in the Jubilee Pageant at Fulwood Barracks, Preston.
Jason, 31, said: "It's quite a privilege to perform at this pageant."
Jason, who works at the army careers office in Burnley, followed in his great-grandfather James's footsteps when he joined the Scots Guards.
