LOCAL golfers Simeon Davis and Stuart Ormson could be in line for a trip to St Andrews, the home of golf, after coming out on top of the Famous Grouse Shotgun Foursomes competition with a title-winning score of 68 at Knott End, their home club.
Their success in the initial stages of the competition, which this year is truly international and takes in almost 900 golf clubs from every corner of Britain plus several from countries in Europe and the Far East, keeps Simeon and Stuart well in the race for a place in the International Final on Scotland's East Coast in October.
Then, a total of 46 players will spend two days in St Andrews and compete over the same historic links of the Old Course where the Open Championship has been played on no fewer than 26 occasions.
