A SUMMER tour of New Zealand will be the final challenge after seven seasons of hockey for girls from King Edward VII and Queen Mary School, Lytham.
Nearly 300 hockey and netball players and their parents attended a special end-of-season presentation at the school where team captains gave their verdict on a busy and successful series of fixtures.
The retiring Fylde Mayor and Mayoress, Coun Patricia Fieldhouse and her sister Katie, presented certificates and trophies. Zara Sharples, 13, took the Birtwistle Trophy and Clare Roberts won the Hollinshead Shield for her contribution to school hockey.
Kay Hanham, head of girls PE and England Under-18 team manager, said: "I felt that the team captains reported very perceptively and humorously on their side's fortunes.
"The tour to New Zealand will be a great opportunity and a great challenge."
