TOWN crier Barry McQueen steamed into Blackpool North Station last week to help to resinstate a little bit of history.

Along with First North Western Trains' representative Simon Ashworth, Barry heralded the arrival of two railway plaques which have been restored by the Blackpool Heritage Trust.

The cast-iron plaques originally adorned the gates of the old North Station until its demolition nearly 30 years ago and feature the insignia of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company and the London and North Western Railway Company, both of which once ran trains on the Blackpool north line.

Mr McQueen said: "The Heritage Trust and First North Western should be congratulated on preserving this little bit of Blackpool's railway history."
