CAN you help to put the brakes on car parking problems in Blackpool's gridlocked town centre?
Blackpool Borough Council's Scrutiny Committee is launching a review of both on-street and off-street car parking and want to know what you think.
"Parking is an important aspect of our everyday lives," says Coun Barry Cresswell -- lead member of the committee.
"We want to tap into the expertise and grass roots knowledge of the people who park in Blackpool, either as part of their working lives or during the evenings and weekends. The council wants to look at how we can develop a forward-thinking car parking strategy which reflects the needs of our residents as well as visitors."
The four major themes the council will be focusing upon are:
Car parks
Residents-only parking provision
Intensive car parking problems
Decriminalisation of on-street parking
Cross party working groups have been formed to look at each theme, which will involve meetings where information can be exchanged between councillors and officers, external bodies and other private car parks.
Anyone wishing to make comments on any of the above themes should address them to: Jon Huck, PO Box 88, Blackpool town hall, FY1 1AD or email jon.huck@blackpool.gov.uk
