ASDA will be rolling back its prices for Fleetwood folk in the near future as top level discussions on the planned development for the Cop Lane area got under way with Wyre Borough Council last week.
Citypark Realty are the developers behind the controversial and complex multi-million pound project to revamp the site on Cop Lane and create around 235 jobs.
Wyre's chief executive Michael Brown attended the meeting following concern about the lack of progress on the site.
During the meeting all aspects of the development were discussed and Asda remain determined and focused on the building of the new store.
Mr Brown said: "I am satisfied that Asda is committed to the creation of a superstore development in Fleetwood. This view was confirmed at the meeting.
"This is an exciting time in Fleetwood's history. A superstore of this size will help ensure the continued regeneration of the town and also boost the local economy and business. Fleetwood deserves the best and we are determined that it will only get the best."
The scheme to be adhered to is extremely complex and may involve the use of compulsory purchase powers to allow the development to go ahead. A further meeting will be held in about three weeks time to review the progress made.
Asda's senior development surveyor added: "The proposal for the supermarket is a complicated one as much of the land is in private ownership. Meaningful discussions with all affected landowners are ongoing and in most cases are close to a positive conclusion.
"We hope to conclude these without having to resort to the use of compulsory purchase powers."
