TWO tons of compressed waste paper went up in flames on Saturday at the Kennedy Asphalt plant in Chaddock Lane, Astley.
Hot metal sparked the blaze when it fell while workers were using cutting equipment. Employees tried to extinguish the fire but had to call firefighters who restricted damage to internal partitions.
