IT was nice of Councillor Roy-E. Walker (Your Letters, May 17) to deem the Tories' decisive defeat in the recent local council elections a "great result".
Also, it was nice of him to be an agent for an Asian candidate but it would have been nicer if, in the same breath, he had condemned Ann Winterton, Tory MP for Congleton, who recently valued Pakistanis as "ten a penny".
It is his wishful thinking that Redvales Ward would turn to the Tories and it will remain his wishful thinking for years to come.
Dr Farook Chaudhry is an excellent councillor, and that is the reason he has been voted in both by the white and Asian communities for a third term. The Labour Party in Bury North is grateful to them.
