FOR years Jessie "The Cropper" Graham put his heart into building his distinctive bungalow on Manchester Road.
He constructed Cropper's Hall slowly and surely, charging customers at his unconventional Silk Street barber's shop a brick for a crop.
He was so proud of his little palace, which was bought by his good neighbours, Waterfields, when he died four years ago.
They purchased it with the intention of developing it into their bakery site when the time was right,
Now that time has come. The memorial to Leigh's demon barber will be demolished within the next six weeks.
One thing's for sure, it will be flattened a lot quicker than it went up.
