MARKS is putting the sparks back into our nearest store.
It has announced a £1.2m package to transform the Standishgate, Wigan, site with a brand new look, products and services.
Oh, if only we could have one!
On the subject of shopping nothing has yet been done to improve the conditions of the Albion Street market traders after almost a year at their awful new site.
Once again they have been forced to pack up early numerous times in recent weeks after gales continually whipped goods from the stalls, and gusts were so strong they turned over planters. After standing at the site chatting and chattering for 10 minutes I'd had enough. How they stand there all day I do not know.
Come winter if nothing is done there'll be no outdoor dealers -- just look at how Tyldesley's market has declined too -- and that will be a sad loss after centuries of open air trading in the town.
For goodness sake can't somebody do something to help the loyal, friendly bunch -- and soon?
