AS a regular user of Buncer Lane, in Blackburn, it has become apparent to me over the last few weeks that the verges have become an eyesore, due to the sheer length of the grass.
It was only last year that the council declared that long grass was unacceptable and took the decision to cut the grass and cull thousands of daffodils at the point of blooming.
Not only did this spoil the beautiful display for 2001, but I'm sure people will have noticed this year that only a handful of daffs have shown their heads.
On a nice sunny day, with the blooms fully opened, it's one of the nicest displays in Blackburn and I feel the council should be forced to replant the thousands of bulbs it has obviously killed.
So council, if you want Blackburn to achieve city status, when are you going to tidy up your verges?
