ENGLAND manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has told his players they are "a very,very, good team."

He was commenting on the 1-0 win over Argentina in Sapporo yesterday which put England within a point of the knock-out stages.

Eriksson said: "You should have respect for all the teams, but if we play football as we can do we should not be afraid of anyone.

"If we play as we have done many times and did yesterday then we are a very, very good team."

Eriksson was not sure if it was the greatest night of his life, admitting: "Maybe, but Germany was not bad."

He added: "It was a good one. It came at the right moment after a draw against Sweden we needed a positive result.

"This was very important, yes it was. Maybe it became easier in Germany after we scored the second goal. It was not easy at all yesterday.

"We played very good football until the last 10-15 minutes against Argentina. They tried to attack everywhere in that period but they didn't score.

"I think we played good football for 35 minutes against Sweden. Yesterday we did it for almost 80 minutes and to beat Argentina is good for your soul.

But the England boss had a note of caution for his team and warned them against the threat of Nigeria, despite the Africans' early World Cup exit.

The two teams meet in the final Group F game in Osaka on Wednesday, and Eriksson told his team that it would be "stupid and dangerous" to think they have already qualified for the second phase.
