WE have always had two main hospitals in Blackburn -- the Royal Infirmary and Queen's Park Hospital. They always ran in tandem, one serving the other and vice-versa. We always needed two and still do.
Surely, it is not too late to save the Infirmary from closure. Could a vote not be taken, as I feel confident of the result?
The Infirmary is next to the busy A666 and would be convenient as an Accident and Emergency Unit at least.
When the Community Health Council visited the Infirmary only recently to look at the Accident and Emergency department and get a snapshot of waiting times, it was given an all-clear. This is the stamp of a first-class hospital.
