A 14-YEAR-OLD dancer has taken the first steps to achieving her dream of becoming a professional.
Chelsea-Dee Robinson, a Lowton High School pupil, has secured a place at the prestigious Hammond Ballet School in Chester, but needs sponsorship to help pay her £15,000-a-year fees.
Chelsea, of Pilling Street in Leigh, has been dancing at the Apple Dance Centre in Leigh since she was two-and-a-half and now trains in ballet, tap, modern, jazz and disco six nights a week, plus competitions once or twice a month.
Lucky Chelsea has been accepted as an exception -- the specialist school usually takes girls aged 11 or 16 -- and hopes to take up the offer, starting at the school in September. During her 9am-6.30pm day, she will focus on ballet, tap, modern and jazz in addition to the national curriculum.
She plans to spend two years at the school, but can only join if she either wins a scholarship or manages to raise the necessary funds.
Margaret, Chelsea's mum said: "It's what she has always wanted -- a dream come true. She's still frightened of getting too excited in case it doesn't happen, but I think she'll scream with excitement if it does."
Anyone who can help Chelsea reach her goal can contact Margaret on 01942 524360.
