THE great Commuter Challenge returns to Bury next week.
Commuters are being urged to turn their backs on their cars and to cycle, walk, or take the bus to work.
The Challenge, which runs from June 10 to 23, is being made by Healthstart on behalf of Bury Council as part of the annual Bike it in Bury campaign and is sponsored by local bus operator First.
The Commuter Challenge works by awarding points each day, based on the mode of travel. Scoring enough points over the Challenge to attain the bronze medal, which equates to cycling to work over six days in the 14 day period, will automatically win a prize of a £15 Pilkington Cycle voucher or a pass for five aerobic sessions at the Castle Leisure Centre.
Silver level secures a £25 voucher or a swim card to the leisure centre, plus a FirstMonth travel pass. For those who show even more commitment and reach the gold level, there will be a £40 voucher for Pilkington's, a free gym induction and 10 gym visits to the leisure centre. To take part in the Challenge, please contact Healthstart on 0151 707 2566.
