BURY'S battle of the bands is back and young talent can win hundreds of pounds in prizes.
Singers and groups are needed to compete in the annual Powersound tournament which takes place in August and September.
Some £600 worth of musical equipment is up for grabs in the competition, which is run by Bury Council's venues department and Bury Youth Service.
Mr David Flynn, for Bury venues, said: "We had a great time last year and we are confident that young bands and singers will once again take up the challenge.
"The competition is open to the 14-25 age group and we welcome everyone from pop and rock, to solo artists and vocal dance groups."
Heats of Powersound 2002 will be held at Radcliffe Civic Suite on August 14, 21 and 28 with the grand final taking place on September 21.
Sponsors include Shout Entertainment Agency, Britvic, Doctor Rock Ltd. and Linton Management.
For an application form, write to David Flynn, Bury Venues, Powersound 2002, Third Floor, Craig House, Bank Street, Bury, BL9 0DN or phone 253 5903.
Tickets priced £3 are already available for the heats.
