A STUDENT is appealing for information after his car was broken into for the ninth time.
Byron Kirkley was away with his brother Alex supporting Cancer Research UK's Golden Jubilee Celebrations, when the vehicle parked on Callender Street, Ramsbottom, was targetted again during the weekend of May 25 and 26.
The two were chosen to be torchbearers and carry the flame, used by the Queen to light the millennium beacon on December 31, 1999. They carried the torch on one stage of its journeys to London from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, in memory of three of their grandparents, all of whom died of cancer.
Alex, who lives in Ramsbottom with his brother, said: "This is the ninth time my brother's car has been broken into since 1999. We are sure it must be the same people breaking into it because of the same methods used."
Byron is now waiting for his student grant to get the car, which because of the extensive damage to the ignition and the steering column, cannot be driven.
"My brother claimed on insurance the first couple of times his Vauxhall was broken into. But now he pays himself otherwise his insurance will go up. He is gutted and I have been giving him lifts.
"If anyone has any information then I would ask them please to contact the police."
