A HIGHLY polished business deal!
That's a Bury-based stainless steel finishing company which is to work in joint ventures
with similar firms in both Sheffield and Barnsley.
Sillavan Metal Services in Bury polish stainless steel sheet and plate before it is used in fabrication.
Stainless Finishing Services (SFS) in Sheffield and Vecom in Barnsley polish stainless steel finished products by hand mechanical polishing and by electro-polishing respectively.
The joint venture will see a new plant built for Vecom on a site next to Sillavan's, in Wood Street, Bury.
Nick Williams, managing director of SFS , will become managing director of Sillavan. He said: "The three companies working together as a team in effect combines all the polishing operations into one company and will offer a better and comprehensive service to customers of all three."
Jeff Aylott, managing director of Vecom, becomes business development director of Sillavan.
Between them the three companies employ 58 people, 35 of them at Sillavan
Metal Services, where managing director Geoff Salisbury is retiring.
