POLICE today appealed for information about a dark coloured Vauxhall Corsa involved in a spate of petrol thefts.
The vehicle is being linked to a series of offences and officers believe registration plates are routinely swapped and changed to throw them off the scent.
Incidents have occured at the Edenfield Service Station and at petrol stations in Rawtenstall during the past month and it is believed it could be the same people each time.
Acting Sergeant Andy Gilbert said: "We are having about one every two days. We would like to track down a dark coloured Vauxhall Corsa which displays the registration plate S969 PYG which we are linking to four offences at the moment and possibly others. It looks like they keep taking the plates off in between and replace them with others."
Anyone with information should contact Rawtenstall CID on 01706 237442.
