WORKERS across Lancashire are being urged to leave their car at home and saddle up during Bike to Work Week 2002, which takes place from June 17 to 21.
Cyclists have the chance to get on the road to fitness, have some fun and raise money for this year's sponsors, the British Heart Foundation and the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Lancashire County Council employees will be saddling up for Bike to work Week to take part in group rides into County Hall.
There are three organised routes into County Hall with a member of staff who cycles the route regularly. All those who join in will be served a free breakfast on arrival.
One intrepid County Council employee, Adrian Smith, plans to cycle from his home in Burnley to County Hall in Preston on June 17.
The aim of the week is to promote the positive health, the environmental benefits of cycling and reduce the dependency on the motorcar. Events will take place throughout Lancashire.
Large employers BAE Systems and Preston and Chorley NHS Trust have also agreed to participate.
