AS Councillor Cassidy has opened the door on the subject of Moorside (Your Letters, May 28), I feel I have to respond, decrying the fact that I actually live in another area of Bury.
I do realise that it would, in a perfect world, be preferable to always have a candidate who lived in the relevant ward, but unfortunately this seems to be impossible. As Coun Cassidy can confirm, neither she nor her late husband live(d) in Moorside Ward so how she can reprimand me for not living there, I don't know.
You know what they say, Councillor Cassidy, that people who live in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones. And I do wonder about the timing of her letter, thanking the electorate of Moorside Ward. Surely she should have thanked them before my letter appeared in the Bury Times. Or is the Labour party, as usual, being as ungracious in victory as it is in defeat?
BEVERLY SULLIVAN,
(I'll be back . . .)
