BURY and District Disabled Advisory Council (BADDAC) has been rewarded for its commitment to the people it serves.
It has joined a steadily increasing number of employers who have been recognised for their positive attitude towards employing and retaining disabled staff.
BADDAC's chairperson Eileen Taplin has been presented with a Positive about Disabled People symbol by Hilary Haigh, Disability Service team manager, after having signed up to the five commitments which will be reviewed each year by Employment Service's Jobcentre Plus.
In order to receive the symbol, BADDAC have guaranteed to interview all disabled candidates who meet their minimum job criteria. They have also pledged to do all they can to help any employee who becomes disabled to keep their job.
And BADDAC can also display the instantly recognisable "two ticks" emblem on official stationery and recruitment adverts in order to publicly promote their positive stance.
Hilary Haigh said: "With their positive outlook on disability, organisations such as BADDAC are vital to the hopes and work aspirations of local people who, although disabled, want to work.
"I am confident that by making this very public commitment to the values of the Disability Symbol, BADDAC will encourage other local employers to follow their example."
