There is one last chance to take part in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester....as a volunteer!
A few positions have still to be filled, including VIP transport drivers, event services/security staff and assistants to help with costumes and props during the ceremonies.
Volunteer Manager, Amy Parrish-Rett, said: "With less than 50 days now to go, we have been fine-tuning the number of volunteers required in certain areas.
"Our Games vehicle fleet has expanded, leading us to need additional drivers and strong ticket sales demand that we have adequate
staff to ensure spectator safety and comfort throughout the Games."
"The few remaining positions to assist with costumes, make-up and props at the ceremonies are more urgent. Volunteers are required immediately as rehearsals for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies have already started."
She added: "Although we had an overwhelming response to our initial call for volunteers and an extensive reserve list, these roles do require a combination of specific skills, along with enthusiasm, motivation and the ability to provide service with a smile".
VIP drivers must be aged 25 or over and have a good driving record. A sound knowledge of Manchester and the surrounding area is preferable.
Interested applicants for any of the positions should call in to the Volunteer Centre on the 4th Floor of Heron House in Albert Square, Manchester on the following days:
Tomorrow (Wednesday 12 June) between 10am - 3pm) and Thursday 13 June between 3pm - 8pm
Alternatively, they can call the Volunteer Hotline on 0870 241 7374.
