BURNLEY Police are hunting two teenage thieves who stole a pensioner's purse and cash from her house.

The thieves called at the 78-year-old's home in Holmes Square, Holmes Street, Burnley at about 10.25pm on Sunday.

While one of the youths chatted to the woman the second climbed through a window at the back of the house and stole a brown leather purse and £60 in cash.

Both youngsters, who are white, aged 13 or 14. One had a pedal bike.

Det Sgt Peter Simm, of Burnley Police said: "This is a despicable crime targeting an elderly lady and we are anxious to catch these thieves before they strike again."
