THE Building Bridges Refugees' and Asylum Seekers' Support Group in Pendle will be holding a week of events as part of Refugee Week.
There will be a barbecue on Saturday from 4pm at Chatburn Park Drive, in Brierfield, followed by a presentation to the asylum seekers by the probation service on Tuesday, June 18, at the drop-in centre in Every Street.
Nelson Library has obtained some funding for work with refugees and on Wednesday, June 19, at Nelson United Reformed Church, staff will explain what they will be doing with the money.
On Thursday, June 20, volunteers and asylum seekers will represent the Pendle area at an awareness raising event at Bangor Street Community Centre, in Blackburn, and on Friday 21, at 4pm, Pendle Leisure Services will hold a series of aerobics class at Nelson United Reformed Church.
There will also be a linked display about asylum seekers at Nelson Library throughout the week.
