A CHEF has emerged with distinction from a regional competition.
Mark Birchall, from Chorley, a staff member at Northcote Manor in Langho, came runner-up in a cook-off at Blackpool and the Fylde Catering College to compete in the 'North-West Young Chef of the Year'.
The competition was open to students of catering colleges as well as young chefs working and training in hotels, restaurants, pubs and other catering establishments in the region.
Contestants were judged on the creativity and balance of the menu, plus the colour, texture and flavour of the food.
