THE Clarets Independent Supporters Association wholeheartedly supports the comments made by Burnley FC chairman Barry Kilby, on the displacement of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes.
This is the ugly face of American sporting franchising showing itself in England, where only money matters and not the supporters whose money, loyalty and devotion have made the club what it is.
It may seem distant to many of us who feel cosy within our own club circle, but we must not allow ourselves to be complacent.
If this is allowed, a dangerous precedent will be set and a situation could easily arrive where, as happened in America, St Louis Cardinals move to Phoenix -- not exactly a bus ride away!
How would the fans of Preston or Blackburn, for example, like their teams to become Hartlepool North End, or Carlisle Rovers. It could happen anywhere if this precedent is allowed and it's a real danger to all true football fans in every part of England.
A CISA committee meeting has decided to propose to members at our annual general meeting at the Sparrow Hawk Hotel in Church Street, Burnley, on June 20, that they boycott the away fixture against Wimbledon, no matter where it is played, next season.
Also I offer my support to the Wimbledon Independent Supporters Association in their continuing struggle to prevent the move and make the FA see a most definite error in their ways.
STEVEN ARNOLD, Chairman, Clarets Independent Supporters Association.
