THE whole of East Lancashire celebrated today as England progressed through to the second round of the World Cup.
A goalless draw against an inexperienced Nigerian side in Osaka was enough for Sven Goran Eriksson's boys to clinch second spot in Group F. They now face Denmark in Niigata on Saturday, with a lunchtime kick off of 12.30.
Sweden finished group champions as they dumped Argentina out of the tournament drawing 1-1 in Miygai.
Throughout East Lancs pubs and clubs opened early, schools switched on their TVs and office and factory workers gathered round to watch England's charge into the next round.
