TWO Pendle schools teams have won the right to represent their borough at the Lancashire Youth Games at the end of this month.
Walton High won the Year Seven trials and Park High won the Year Eight/Nine trials at the Girls Soccer Festival at Pendle Leisure Centre.
They will now represent Pendle at the festival of sport, the Lancashire Youth Games, in Lancaster on June 29.
All seven Pendle schools - West Craven, Park, Primet, Fishermore, Walton, Mansfield and Edge End - took part in the Year Eight/Nine contest and only Walton didn't send a Year Seven side.
The event was organised by the Pendle Sports Development Unit in conjunction with Lancashire Sport.
Park High won their final against Primet 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out.
Their team included the likes of Danielle Ruddy, goalkeeper Katie Blaymire, Kelly Ronson, Trudi Lonsdale, Laura Beard, Kaley Green, Emma Cocker and Rachel Greenwood.
Emma, Danielle, Kelly and Katie took the all-important kicks.
PE teacher Clare Moor said the girls were excited about the prospect of representing Pendle in the Lancashire Youth Games.
"They are looking forward to it," she said.
"Unfortunately, our two best players, Kelly and Danielle, are away on a watersports activity weekend that weekend so they won't be able to come to the Games.
"We are not sure who the replacements will be yet."
Walton High School's team coach Janet Hayes said the standard at the Games will be high.
"There are many teams who have girls in them that play for club sides. Burnley, Oldham and Rochdale girls - and others - will be there with their respective schools.
Carolyn Wilmore, Sheree Morgan, Jade Bancroft, Kiera Waring, Hannah Goodall, Hannah Rigby, Emily Frate and Leah Morrissey made up their team.
They beat Fishermore 5-4 in a penalty shoot out after the final finished 0-0 after extra time.
