FIVE more people were arrested today for suspected drugs offences following a second morning of raids in Burnley.
The raids, designed to tackle street level drug dealing, took place in Burnley West and were carried out as part of Operation Monaco.
Part of the Safer Streets in Lancashire campaign, Operation Monaco was launched yesterday when 12 arrests were made after 14 addresses were raided in the Daneshouse, Stoneyholme, Duke Bar and Burnley Wood areas of Burnley as England played Nigeria in the World Cup.
Operation Monaco has involved around 250 officers to date and took six months to plan.
DI Simon Leach, the man responsible for the operation, said: "We are extremely pleased with the number of arrests so far and expect to make more as the operation progresses.
"Our intention is to stamp out street level drug dealing by targeting all known suppliers and putting them before the courts.
"Information from the public has proved vital so far and I would ask that people continue to contact us with information about drug dealing.
"Alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers free and in confidence on 0800 555 111."
