A RARE slip catch for Warren Hegg was the highlight of the first day of Lancashire's game against Durham University which even manager Mike Watkinson admitted was boring.
"It was one of those days with a flat pitch where their batsmen could stay in but didn't play with much ambition," said Watkinson after the students laboured to 198 for six in 89 overs.
Hegg alternated between slip and mid-off with Jamie Haynes wicket keeper, and took a sharp catch to give Chris Schofield his only wicket of the day.
Schofield only conceded 25 runs in 20 overs and Gary Keedy took one for 28 in 15 overs and Watkinson added: "Both our spinners had a good long bowl which will help with their rhythm, although bowling in a Championship game is very different."
