LEIGH'S Turnpike Gallery presents Jigar: films by Alia Syed from June 22 to August 3.
Alia Syed is well known on the film festival circuit, having exhibited at Tate Modern and the National Film Theatre.
This is her first major solo gallery exhibition and it features three evocative films, bringing together a significant body of her work, made during the past 15 years.
Using experimental film printing techniques, she combines social concerns, issues of representation and fragmented narratives to make poetic documentaries.
Alia will speak about her work at the gallery on June 22.
Other events at the gallery will include Art Factory from August 10 to September 7 with three artist residencies on site.
Arts Active, Saturday Club workshops will run from July 6 to August 3.
Admission to all events is free.
