BURNLEY amateur Michael Hunt, defends his Harold Ryden Trophy this weekend in what could be his last appearance in the scratch tournament.
The 23-year-old Lancashire player could turn pro at the end of the year, which would rule him out of future Harold Ryden competitions.
The Harold Ryden, which is ELGA's showpiece tournament, takes place this year at Blackburn with home players Anthony Harwood and James Pierce hoping to use their knowledge of the course to their advantage.
Harwood knocked Pierce out at the quarter-final stage last year only to be knocked out himself by Craig Fort in the semi-finals.
Hunt, who beat Pleasington's Andy White in the semi last year, beat Nelson's Fort in the final.
Players from across East Lancashire will play 36 holes this Saturday before the quarter finals are held on Monday, the semis on Tuesday and the final on Wednesday.
