RADCLIFFE were skittled out, 10 short of the target in their Central Lancashire League home game against Littleborough last Saturday.

Littleborough's Aussie professional, Carseldine, did the damge with the bat, hitting a more than useful 80 out of the visitors total of 175 for eight off 49 overs.

The start of the match was delayed and one over was deducted from each innings.

Nobody else came close to Carseldine in the Littleborough innings. The next best scores came from opener Johnson with 23 and Deakin, who managed 17, batting at number seven.

Fast Eddie Shah was the pick of the Radcliffe bowlers and he claimed Carseldine as one of his six victims. Unfortunately, Shah took a bit of tap during his 24 overs and conceded a total of 80 runs.

Chris Dearden stunned Radcliffe with the ball when the hosts replied. He fairly tore through the middle and lower orders, finishing with highly impressive figures of six for 36.

Travis Birt, Radcliffe's Aussie amateur opening batsman with 49, top scored, while professional Steve Dearden (26) and Jon Macauley (33) also put up some resistance.

It wasn't enough and Radcliffe were bowled out for 165 against a side they would, currently, have been expected to beat on their own patch.

Littleborough chalked up the double with a victory in the second XI fixture at Hare Hill.

Hayes and Nicholson both managed half centuries as Radcliffe totalled 158 for four after the match was reduced to 38 overs because of rain.

Williamson, Thewlis and Proctor with knocks of 36, 36 and 30 respectively, plus a useful, unbeaten 25 from tail-ender Whitworth helped Littleborough to victory with one ball and two wickets to spare.

McLean and Halliwell took three wickets apiece for Radcliffe, Halliwell finishing with handsome figures of three for 27 off his eight overs

STAND recorded their first win of the season in style against Ashton.

The hosts were soon in control with tight, early bowling from Paul Duerden and Martin Hegg which held Ashton to 114 all out after being 88-9.

Three excellent catches from Dave Foreman, Dave Airey and Carl Sutcliffe supported some top class seam bowling from Hegg, who finished with 3-46, and man of the match Chris Warren, 6-40.

Stand began their run chase with the loss of opener Bond and James Inman was then superbly caught for seven, leaving them on 13-2.

Wicketkeeper Josh McLean added five before he was dubiously given out lbw, while Dave Taylor, who opened the innings, played his way to a hard-fought 25 before being bowled by Ashton's Sri Lankan professional Anil Rideegammanagedera with the score on 56 for four.

Hegg added 20 before being run out. Dave Airey played a cameo innings of seven, giving Chris Warren support at a crucial stage of the game.

Warren finished on 19 not out as Stand reached their target with six overs left.

Unsworth's home game with Milnrow was abandoned with parts of the field under water when the players arrived for the game.

The Pole Lane side are having problems with the drainagae system at their new ground. So much so that they are still waiting to conclude their Wood Cup quarter-final against Radcliffe.
