MARITAL mayhem may not sound like the stuff of comedy, but if the cast of When We Are Married is to be believed there are a lot of laughs to be had.
J B Priestley's classic comedy concerns three upstanding couples whose silver wedding plans go awry when they are shocked to discover they were never actually married at all!
Ian Dickens' production began its three-month countrywide tour at Blackpool Grand Theatre this week.
And leading cast members David Griffin, Mary Tamm and Sabina Franklyn emerged from pre-performance rehearsals last week declaring they hadn't stopped giggling since rehearsals began.
"It's such a great atmosphere in the theatre," said David, well-known as the long-suffering Emmet in TV comedy Keeping Up Appearances. "It's the rehearsal room atmosphere that makes you relaxed.
"We kept saying to ourselves 'we'll get all the giggles out in rehearsal' but we didn't stop because it's such a funny play."
When We Are Married runs nightly until Saturday (June 15), with a Saturday matinee. For more details phone the box office on (01253) 290190.
