FRIENDS made sure that a memorial effort to celebrate the life of late Bury Hospice chairman Colin Caffrey stayed true to his aims.
A fund in memory of Mr Caffrey, set up by his friends and colleagues from the hospice, raised £12,250.
This was in addition to £2,500 raised through donations at the funeral of Mr Caffrey.
Fund-raising manager Mervyn Reeves said: "The hospice is extremely grateful and this is a wonderful recognition of how much Colin meant to so many people.
"It is the best way that we could have remembered him because keeping the doors open and delivering service were always his priority."
Among those at the presentation of the cheque were Mr Caffrey's widow, Mrs Brenda Caffrey.
