PREPARATIONS for Lytham's famous club day are well under way with children and adults alike busy adding the finishing touches to their floats and fancy dresses.
The procession will take place on June 22 and is set to depart from Station Road at 10.15am and follow its normal route through the town centre and promenade.
All local churches will be involved and people wishing to participate are still coming in.
The rose queen to be crowned is Delyth Williams from St John's Church in Lytham. She will be crowned in Lowther Gardens at 2.15pm.
All the fun of the fair will be on hand at its usual spot on Park View Road from June 20 to 24 despite recent reports of problems with the site.
Evening entertainment is also planned for the Saturday night in Station Square and will run from 8pm to 11pm, featuring folk music and a steel band.
Chairman of the carnival Len Whiteside said: "Everything is going as planned and I am sure it will be a success. It is too early to tell how many will be taking part in the procession as we usually get more interest nearer the time." If you want to take part call procession marshall Bob Ratcliffe on 730630.
Also make sure you don't miss the St Annes Charity Carnival on July 6. The procession will take a different route this year and will assemble on St George's Road and St Andrew's Road North at 10.30am and proceed into The Square.
The afternoon proceedings in Ashton Gardens will begin at 1.30pm with the arrival of the Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Hannah Cummings-Miller, the reigning carnival queen Stacie Cartmell and her retinue, the carnival queen-elect Zoe Hibberd and her retinue.
Ashton Gardens will also be hosting a fair with donkey rides, vintage bus rides, stalls and games and other entertainment to keep the children amused.
Anyone wishing to take part in the procession or have a stall in Ashton Gardens can contact Graham Smith on (01253) 726433.
