THE rest of the country may come to a halt tomorrow afternoon as England take on Denmark but it is very much business as usual for the Transco Lancashire League.
A number of teams did speculate as to whether the start might be delayed an hour to allow players, fans and umpires to watch the big game but the League's Honorary Secretary Lionel Cooke said: "It would be a logistical nightmare to change it.
"I am as big a football fan as anyone but what can you do for the best? Certain clubs have asked us but it will be a 1.15pm start, as usual."
So as pubs and clubs are digesting the events of the first half Colne and Rishton come face to face with both teams hoping to push forward from their mid-table positions.
And Colne opener Gary Hunt joked: "I hope we win the toss, I can get in and then get out in time for the second half.
"We are all big football fans here but we knew the League would not change things, they didn't even do it when Burnley got to Wembley. We have got a football team here and you do find if you are good at one of the sports you are reasonable at another.
"We are all fired up for watching it and this weekend is a good toss to win as I don't think a lot of teams will be fielding. But we are all aware that we are playing for a business and that business depends on success on the pitch. so we will have to do our best."
Colne will be giving a debut to Indian batsman Tosh Arothe, the former Royton pro who has been brought in as Saturday replacement for injured South African Charl Langeveldt.
"Carl's injury is a big blow because he had been doing very well hope with bat and ball," said Hunt. "He has gone back home and been told that he is out until September with ankle ligament damage.
"That means that we have to look at things on a week by week basis. We did enquire about a couple of players, Ben Johnson and Matthew Mott, but they did not come off. That is why we are delighted Tosh has come in. He is a left hand bat from Baroda, bowls a bit of off-spin and got 1400 runs in the Central Lancashire League.
"We are mid-table at the moment and that is below what we we expect. The weather has not helped anyone but we have not been consistent enough."
Last Sunday's washout means that the table is as you were and leaders Bacup will be keen to keep up the pace and they will hope to take advantage of a trip to strugglers Church.
Enfield remain in hot pursuit and they are also facing a team near the bottom with Lowerhouse the visitors.
Haslingden pro Ian Austin will hope to continue his good for with both bat and ball as the third placed side travel to East Lancashire who are still much nearer bottom than top.
Accrington will be aiming to push away from the bottom of the table when they visit Burnley and Ramsbottom play host to Todmorden.
In the final game this weekend Nelson have the chance to climb the table by beating Rawtenstall, currently five places but only ten points ahead of them.
Fixtures: Burnley v Accrington, Church v Bacup, Colne v Rishton, East Lancs v Haslingden, Enfield v Lowerhouse, Ramsbottom v Todmorden, Rawtenstall v Nelson.
