THIS July the boys and girls of the Bent Lane based Leyland Army Cadet Detachment will join more than 600 other army cadets from all over Lancashire to take part in their annual camp held this year at Strensall, North Yorkshire.
The commanding officer of Lancashire Army Cadet Force, Colonel Alan Jolley TD, has directed that the 14-day camp will have adventurous training exercises including abseiling, canoeing and cross country map and compass expeditions, all with the supervision of qualified adult instructors.
The Duke of Edinburgh's award schemes are encouraged and organised by specialist officers while sport will play a large part in the camp training programme.

Their detachment commander, Leyland resident Lt Kath Napier has said that it is important that young people are encouraged to stretch their knowledge and ability while retaining a good team spirit.
