A GROUP of sexy girl dancers have accused East Lancashire men of being too shy to strut their stuff after failing to find any male volunteers.
The Wild Angels dance in costumes at functions organised by Blackburn-based UK Entertainments but can't find any tasty chaps to sign up for the equivalent troupe, Male Order.
Ads in the job centre and a regional recruitment drive have failed to attract recruits. And the girls are now wondering why men are reluctant to dance with them on stage in the organised routines.
"The girls are fighting over themselves to get on the books but it is a month since we had even one application from a man" said Kat Hartley, executive co-ordinator for the Eanam Wharf business.
"Short of trying to take the men off the streets I don't know what else we can do. Men are all talk and no action."
The eight female dancers dress-up in schoolgirl outfits, bunny costumes and cheeky devils for functions across East Lancashire to add an extra something "tasteful" to parties.
And the Male Order troop would be made up of five dancers -- dressed as hunky policemen, playboys or cavemen -- who could earn around £25 for 15 minutes work and up to £250 a session for television work.
Dancer of five years Roxanne Gregory, 22, a former St Mary's College student, said men were too intimidated to give it a go. She said: "Dancing in a troop is the perfect way of letting your alter-ego run wild and makes you more confident than you might be during the day.
"It's just a great feeling of control over a crowd and let's you have a moment of being centre of attention.
"I think men are intimidated. They get a complex about themselves but there is not as much pressure as they think. It is a real shame we can't get some more men to sign up because it is stopping us get more cabaret style gigs. Men just don't really understand what it is all about."
And what are the credentials for any budding male dancer?
Roxanne voted for "nice eyes, an ability to charm a crowd and individual looks" while Kat said: "rhythm, a chatty character and some free time to learn the routines!"
Applicants do not need dance experience and can call UK Entertainments on 01254 55777 to apply. Applicants will be required to attend an interview.
