LEIGH Library will take lap top computers out to the community.
Wigan's Pentium Project, one of six selected ground breaking schemes in the north west, has been awarded £9,600 from the lottery's New Opportunities Fund.
The People's Network will be used to encourage groups such as asylum seekers and travellers into libraries by showing them how easy it is to use the technology.
Care service staff will also demonstrate the opportunities and potential of the new library services to housebound residents to give them access to information and communication many have not experienced before.
Access and inclusion officer Anne Turner said: "The project will help us to move forward our social exclusion policies. It is a major step for Wigan to be able to promote the People's Network in such a visual hands-on way."
